Unless you are over 40 years old, the chances are that you have never heard of Les Sage and Sage Audio Electronics. In the mid 1980's he wrote a series of articles for ETI (Electronics Today International) on amplifier design before eventually releasing his own range of amplifier modules through Sage Audio Electronics.
Although designed and sold for the Hobbyist to build their own power amplifiers, these caused quite a bit of a stir due to their outstanding (claimed) specifications. The SuperMos 2 amplifier module boasted a specification of:
- THD of less than 0.0001%
- Slew rate of 685V/uS
- Active Class A design
Sage Audio later went on to design and sell the Super Supply, and Digitrap filters, as well as a range of preamplifier modules.
